Pre-Employment Welding Program

Grande Prairie Regional College, Edson AB
February 1 - June 8, 2018
5:00 PM to 9:30 PM, Monday to Friday

The Pre-employment Welding program follows the Welder, First Period curriculum outlined by Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT). In this 12-week certificate program, you’ll receive training in gas metal arc welding (GMAW), oxy-acetylene welding (OAW), and shielded metal arc welding (SMAW). You’ll study basic joints, types of welds, and weld faults, plus gain hands-on experience in safe work practices in shop and lab, hand tools and power tools, equipment setup, trades math, maintenance and troubleshooting. This is an intensive program offering about 50 percent more instruction than the regular Apprenticeship program.
